To live and work in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is like no other, and Newport is at its heart. With the best skiing in the east and a 32 mile trans-border lake at its doorstep, Newport offers a surplus of natural resources for  travelers, adventurers and residents alike.

Newport is located at the southern end Lake Memphremagog which straddles the US/Canadian border. No matter where you are in town you will find yourself only steps away from a scenic lakeside pathway that travels north and connects to hundreds of miles of recreational paths in Canada. Our vibrant and walkable downtown has a variety of small shops, restaurants, movie theater, grocery stores, hardware store, banks, etc.

Although a small community, Newport is perfectly situated as an ideal central hub with easy interstate access to Montreal (2 hours), Burlington (1h45m), Boston (3h30m), and New York City (5h50m). The Northeast Kingdom International Airport is located under 5 miles from downtown, and accommodates small-jet traffic. If you want to feel like you’re in Paris, the french Canadian city of Magog is a mere 1 hour boat ride or 45 minute car ride to the north.

People considering relocating to the area are welcome to visit the Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce and Vermont’s North Country Chamber of Commerce websites for additional insight into this area.
